I spent an entire year of my life bodybuilding and put on enough muscle to go from 180 pounds to 270... I have since worked with the winners of every pro physique contest you can name in one capacity or another... I have plenty to say about drug use.... Things you probably never even heard of... As of yet anyhow... Including the fine art of carrying the burden of becoming an obsessive compulsive wreck along the way... The actual diet and workouts used are published here for the first time too...
It began about 4 months before my 24th birthday. I weighed in at 186 pounds precisely on the seventh day. Within a month I was at 200 pounds. By the end of June I was 210. September 4th, the end of summer, I was weighed in at 220. I gained 40 pounds those first 4 months using nothing but barbells, dumb bells, food, basic supplements (vitamins, minerals, glandulars, protein and herbs) and was by no means done. By Thanksgiving I weighed 235, and Valentine's Day, 245.
Come Springtime I was 260, and by the Summer of 1994... 274... 100% DRUG FREE... Competitive bodybuilders are judged on the basis of muscular size, shape, definition, density, proportion, and visual presentation. Bodybuilders generally train for muscular size during the off season and then work to reduce their body fat for months before their shows. The body fat of male competitive bodybuilders during the off season should never be higher than 10% (and 15% for women).
Unfortunately we see these athletes ballooning up to 20 and 30% body fat. In effort to reduce this obesity towards a competitive body weight, bodybuilders typically employ restrictive dietary practices, intense training, and steroids. None of which are healthy and none of which are necessary. Lazy people take short cuts. Smart ones apply their brains to the task. Bodybuilders of all weight classes require different caloric intakes but so many people think all it takes is eating like Arnold Schwarzenegger to look like him.
Others have no idea what they take in because they fail to read labels, study their foods and know what they are doing. One customer claimed he consumed 6000 calories a day but proved to consume only 3000 once forced to measure his selections. No wonder he couldn't gain weight. Another subject reported consuming 4000 calories, 400 grams of protein, 1000 grams of carbohydrate, and just 50 grams of fat. Unfortunately, that adds up to be 6000 calories, not 4000. No wonder he couldn't see his abdominal muscles.
Bodybuilders have been known to rapidly gain weigh within days after their contest because like people coming off any low calorie and restrictive diet, the body rebels. Yes, they tend to overeating, but the effect coming from not playing things smarter and easing back into a diet that will not only maintain their achievements, but keep them lean all year long. Most people believe steroids, hours of weight lifting and hours more cardiovascular exercise is necessary for optimal bodybuilding results.
While it is true that the biggest names in the industry are users of illegal substances that is their problem, not yours. You want to live a long life, right? The odds are not in their favor to do so. Did we mention that nothing inside this book is available in any other of Don Lemmon's Know How releases? The bottom line is that there is finally a way to get results without using steroids for bodybuilding or look lean and mean like a fitness model and it is right here in The Ultimate Development.
